People in industrial society have difficulties obtaining and representing life-reality in vital relationships with surroundings. The mechanical reproduction has loosened most relationships and ruled our life just by mechanical values. Moreover, art couldnt represent any vision in relationships with life. This study deals with the destruction of human spirit and true art caused by industrial society in Women in Love. Lawrence insisted art performed only in relationships with our life and nature should be artistic and moral. People have not been regarded as individuals with creativity and been treated as functional units like parts of machine in Mechanical civilization. Moreover, art in industrial society showed us the simple representation of objects and we couldnt get a vision of our life through that kind of art works. The fatal flaw of industrial society is that mechanical reproduction makes our life and art unrealistic. So this study examines the conflict between mechanical reproduction and art in industrial society by following D. H. Lawrences viewpoint.
